Vrindavan's economy can rise and fall with pilgrims, festivals, weather, and local events. A good week may be followed by a week when even food and rent become difficult.

When school is free, parents do not have to choose between books and food. Uniforms, notebooks, and meals remove practical barriers that often push children out of education.

Basic education gives children a chance to move beyond the most insecure forms of work. Reading, maths, and English can support training, customer work, office help, and better wages later.
